New intrigues of Russia. That happens in Libya and Syria

Igor Semivolos, the director of the Libya Middle Eastern Research Center, continues to balance on the boundary of another civil conflict in Tripoli, which has erupted in the last days of August, are now taking place frequently. Or in the capital of Libya or in neighboring cities. For example, how recently in Misurata. I heard that Russia allegedly took its Wagner PVC from there. I cannot confirm that they are not there. The very fact that the Wagnets from Libya came out is known.

Because they found the corpses of mercenaries in the Donbass, they had Libyan money. That is, they were not the Libyans, but the Russians. The money could be concluded that they came from Libya. Video of the day ago the process of Reduction by Russia to the war against Ukraine Wagner PEC has been ongoing for some time. The question - whether everyone was brought out - remains open.

Since the fighting for power now, for the main prize - the Tripoli between the Caliph Haftar and the government, it does not occur, as it was before, in the so -called "golden period" of the Wagner's stay in Libya, I assume that their number has decreased significantly. The main problem of Libya is that Muammar Gaddafi regime, like other dictatorial regimes, did not create stable state institutions. Jamahiria was a facade that was only the sole government of the dictator.

After the fall of the dictatorship in 2011, the country turned out to be many insurgent groups that were not going to disarm and controlled entire settlements. Then, in 2013, lustration of officials was carried out, so a whole apparatus of officials was destroyed, which at least understood something in this country. In the country, a civil war was actually underway. The international community tried to resolve this situation through the formation of democratic procedures and elections.

The elections were to take place in December last year. But did not happen. And today's clash is the direct consequences of cancellation of these elections. If you look at who opposes each other, then in Libya now, relatively speaking, two prime ministers. There is one that was appointed by the Provisional Government, which is recognized as the world, and the other is appointed by Parliament. And Parliament is in the eastern Libya and opposes this temporary recognized government world.

This is a very difficult situation that cannot be resolved without a full -scale election that could return the country to a legal field. The situation remains suspended and the country continues to balance on the verge of another civil conflict. Russia, however, was led by Libya to put Haftar's Caliph, an Egypt's protege. He is old (78 years old), but all dreams of uniting Libya under his cap. And Russia's economic interest, like everyone else, is oil.

Now, for another troubled country, which was also attached to the Civil War Russia - Syria. Conducting a special operation in northern Syria was announced on August 17, but frankly, it never started. And here is even more interesting, because if you pay attention to the statement of Turkish Minister Mevlut Chavushagl that Turkey has to restore the full relationship with Syria and with Bashar Assad, it creates a new intrigue, at least.

This causes serious concern and negative reaction from the Syrian opposition, which did not expected such a turn of events. But such statements are obviously the consequences of the meeting of Erdogan and Putin in Sochi. Putin openly addressed Erdogan with a proposal to negotiate with Bashar Assad and to speak against Kurds jointly. This is this compromise, such an option that the Russians offer the Turks to keep their face in military operations - so that they do not look like losers.

This is the story. It is still developing well, I would say. Bashar Assad is in no hurry to contact the Turks. For this, at least, Syrians should see some steps of Turkish on the liberation of northern Syria. And the Turks are clearly not ready to return these territories. Based on all this, it can be said that it looks like a certain tactical pause, which can develop into a strategic one.
