In Russia, the August-VS5 complex was tested against drones: what is the threat of the Armed Forces

The number of complexes created, supply plans and the cost of "August-VS5" remain unknown. In Russia, a new complex for combating drones, called the August-VS5, was created, reports Roshelectronics, which is part of the Rostech system. "August-VS5" is a modernized version of "August-VS", presented last year, but now it has been able to suppress not only civilians but also military drones used for exploration or attacks. The complex operates in five frequency ranges - from 900 MHz to 5. 8 GHz.

It has a modular structure and can be installed on various platforms - cars, helicopters or stationary objects. The main feature of the antitrone complex ASP-VS5 is its ability to form a directional suppression signal, which can be configured depending on the situation. Thus, the complex can effectively combat swarms of drones or single purposes. In addition, it can create a kind of "protection" over a certain territory or an important object.

"August-VS5" from its senior "brother" "August-VS" differs in that it works in five frequency ranges, not in two. Secondly, it has a greater suppression range-up to five kilometers, while the August-BS is up to three kilometers. There is no information yet to how this antitrone complex is ready for industrial release and when it will be on the battlefield in Ukraine. Also unknown is the cost of August-VS5, but some similar systems can cost from $ 200 thousand.
