The Armed Forces will receive 178 LEOPARD 1 tanks: the media have learned about Germany's government decisions

At best, the first leopards will be delivered to Ukraine this summer. The main part of the cars is unlikely to be delivered by 2024, journalists reported. "Part of the stored tanks will have to be disassembled for spare parts during repair," the interlocutors of the publication said.

The German company Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft (FFG), specializing in the production, maintenance, and modernization of military equipment, prepares about 90 LOOPARD 1 tanks that have been stored for years. The costs of repairing "Leopards" will be covered by the German government from the Defense Fund of Ukraine. Another part of the tanks will be sent by Italy according to an export license, writes Der Spiegel.

Tagesspiegel, citing German Minister Boris Pistorius, adds that Ukraine will receive more than 100 LEOPARD 1A5 tanks from several European countries. At least 3 battalions should be equipped with the first and second quarters of 2024.
