The Russians noticed in Zaporizhzhya region French UAV Harfang: What is known about them

Harfang Male UAS drones are in service with the France's Air Force, they allow you to reconnaissance and monitor the movement of transport in any weather. French Harfang Male UAS flies over Russian positions in the occupied part of the Zaporozhye region. The former head of "Roscosmos" and the head of military advisers "Royal Wolves" Dmitry Rogozin said in Telegram.

According to him, the Russian military noticed in the sky an unknown UAV and tried to knock down with the help of small arms, but did not hit, instead they were photographed. Rogozin recognized the aircraft as Harfang Male UAS produced by the French company Airbus. "The expensive thing. Radar (all-weight) and optical-electronic intelligence," he said. France's military-air forces have been using Harfang drones since 2008, along with RQ-5 Hunter.

It is an unmanned aircraft with a four -cylinder Rotax 914F opposite engine with a capacity of 115 hp, turbocharged, water cooling and a screw located in the back. A distinctive feature of the model was the tail plumage with two beams and two vertical surfaces. Harfang load is installed under the nasal part, as in many Western drones.

It contains optical-electronic and infrared sensors, a laser target, which also serves as a rangefinder, a radar with a fixed echo surrounding and high-resolution synthesized aperture. Due to this UAV equipment can be monitored by the movement of land vehicles in any weather. In the center of the case is an antenna, which provides communication at a distance of 200 km in terms of direct visibility, in addition, the drone uses geostationary satellites.

Inside the UAV is an inertial measuring unit with repeated GPS calibration and differential GPS, which is responsible for automatic rushing and landing. If Harfang loses communication with the operator, it flies the return route to the start point, and if the connection recovers, continues the mission. It is worth noting that neither France nor other countries have reported the supply of Harfang Male UAS to Ukraine.
