10 years prison: Putin signed a decree on criminal punishment for Russian servicemen

The category of persons who are threatened with deserters, refusals, as well as servicemen who did not appear to work or voluntarily have been captured. Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a bill that makes amendments to Art. 63 of the Criminal Code, which was under consideration of the State Duma since September 20.

According to the published document, citizens of the Russian Federation, who refuse mobilization or voluntarily be captured, will be subjected to criminal prosecution - they are threatened with imprisonment for up to 10 years. Pursuant to the new wording in Article 63 of the Criminal Code, the words "in the conditions of armed conflict or hostilities" were replaced by the words "during the period of mobilization or martial law, in wartime or in the conditions of armed conflict or fighting".

Yes, the new version of the article provides from 3 to 10 years for refusing mobilization or abandoning military service in wartime or martial law. It should be reminded that on September 20, deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation immediately in the second and third readings approved amendments to the bill on amendments to the Criminal Code, which proposes to consider periods of mobilization, martial law and wartime burdensome during the commission of a crime.

In order to amend the Criminal Article in the State Duma, the concepts of "mobilization", "martial law" and "wartime" that were not there before were introduced to the Criminal Code. It should be noted that the amendments to the Criminal Code were made just when they announced pseudo -referendums in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
