The Kremlin will try to organize a fake "referendum" in Ukraine in the coming weeks - the State Department

The high-ranking official of the Russian aggressor Sergey Kiriyenko will try to organize pseudo-referendums in temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories in the next weeks. This was announced by the Deputy Official Representative of the US State Department Vedant Pavel during a briefing, SNN reports. "The first deputy head of the Russian Presidential Administration Serhiy Kiriyenko is the preparation of fictitious referendums.

Kiriyenko is responsible for supervising the territories held by Russia to their attempts to access to Russia," Pavel reminded. Video of the day according to the US, Russia can try to conduct pseudo -referendums in the occupied areas of Kherson, Zaporizhia, Donetsk, Lugansk and Kharkiv regions. "They can happen in the coming weeks," the official added.

The US is expecting the Russian Federation to manipulate the results of these pseudo -referendums to say that the Ukrainian people allegedly want to join Russia. Pavel reminded that only 3% of Ukrainians say that Ukraine would be a member of the Eurasian Customs Union headed by Russia.

"In the framework of fictitious referendums, Russia will undoubtedly use propaganda and misinformation campaigns, falsify voter turns and exaggerate the percentage of those who allegedly voted for accession to Russia," he added. Earlier, the Institute of War Study (ISW) reported that Russian invaders are unlikely to be able to conduct pseudo -referendums on the "accession" of temporarily captured territories of Ukraine to the Russian Federation in early September.
