The Armed Forces were first hit by AGM-88 Harm rocket: what could be launched an anti-radar ammunition

There are several options for starting the AGM-88 rocket-a NATO fighter start, the modernization of Ukrainian aircraft for launching such rockets and the availability of a special ground installation. In Russia, a photo of the residues of AGM-88 Harm missiles, which allegedly struck the Ukrainian military, was published. The War Zone suggested that anti -radar missiles could be launched. AGM-88 HARM is a high-speed anti-radar rocket that is designed to destroy or disable radar stations.

The author notes that HARM was used in different wars and during different operations. This is a rocket that has shown its effectiveness. The rocket itself was originally manufactured as aviation. It can be launched by NATO fighters. Therefore, some observers began to claim that it was a launch from a western fighter. However, there is no evidence that it was a launch from such an aircraft. In addition, it is noted that NATO continues the policy of avoiding direct military confrontation with Russia.

Theoretically, a plane on the country could launch a rocket somewhere from the territory of Belarus to cover Russian air defense, but the chances of this are close to zero. In addition, the authors believe that Russia would immediately start tubing about it. Another option, as the Ukrainian military could launch a rocket, is to modernize their Soviet fighters. The problem in this case is that the Ukrainian Air Force does not have the required software to start such missiles.

AGM-88 can work with minimal integration, potentially even with a tablet. But Soviet fighters do not have the necessary interfaces at the level of the base architecture of the aircraft. At the same time, it is possible that the Air Force of Ukraine received several Soviet fighters from NATO countries that have undergone the necessary modernization to launch HARM missiles.

The author also considers this option because of the dynamics of fighting and the need for additional training for Ukrainian pilots. The most likely option is to start a rocket from a ground base. Such examples were already used, in particular, the tank used the M4A1 Sherman tank for rocket launcher. It was called "Kilshon" and was in operation after the war of a judgment. There were similar developments that showed the viability of terrestrial launches for AGM-88 missiles.

Now the concept is continuing to develop. Northrop Grumman is tested for an advanced AGM-88E missile is a more modern and powerful anti-location rocket. AGM-88G and Aargm-Er missiles are also tested with it. The ground base is the adaptation of Brimstone missiles on land installations in the Armed Forces. They are already used by the Ukrainian army on a makeshift installation.

The publication emphasizes that the use of AGM-88 Harm missiles is of great weight due to the presence of Russian air and medium-range air defense agents very close to the front line. Anti -radar missiles can jeopardize Russian air defense systems, which will allow Ukraine to use aviation more effectively and "blind" the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. We will remind, on July 25 Reznikov stated that the Armed Forces receive new anti -radiological missiles that will "blind the enemy".
