Preached the "Russian world": in the Sumy region detained the clergyman - the National Police

Investigators claim that in March 2022, during the Russian occupation of the Sumy region, the priest justified the actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and provided them with financial assistance. National police officers in Sumy region detained the priest of one of the villages near Konotop, who preached the enemy ideology of the "Russian world" and cooperated with the Russian invaders in March 2022. The National Police press service reports.

"Operatives of the Sumy Region Strategic Investigation Management, together with investigators of the regional police, received evidence of the involvement of the clergyman in the collaboration activity," the department said. In addition to the spread of the ideas of the "Russian world", the 37-year-old clergyman justified the actions of the aggressor country in Ukraine, supported the occupation of its territories, and provided financial assistance to the soldiers of the enemy army.

In July, investigators informed the priest of suspicion under Part 4 of Art. 111 (collaboration) and Part 1 of Art. 436 (justification of armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The investigation has now been completed and the case file is sent to court. In case of guilt of the clergyman, he threatens up to 5 years in prison.

Earlier it was reported that the priest of the UOC in Vinnytsia region during the funeral of the Ukrainian military staged a fight with his colleague with the PCCU. Armed with a cross, he repeatedly struck his opponent and tore a cross from his chest. On July 28, the PCU leadership appealed to the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to attract the head of the ROC Patriarch Cyril to canonical responsibility and deprive him of the Patriarchal throne.
