During the defense of Kiev, the Ukrainian military caused high losses to elite Russian troops - landing units and marines. This was reported in the investigation of Radio Liberty. With the help of open data, media materials and interviews, journalists were able to establish losses of Russian troops.

The Ukrainian defense forces have inflicted one of the greatest defeats for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. As a result of the investigation, it was found that major losses have suffered battalions and mouth-to-tactical groups from 5 elite Russian Divisions and Marines: at least 45 soldiers were destroyed from the 331st Parachut and Destant Regiment from Kostroma. 12 of them participated in parades on Red Square in Moscow, 6 fought in Syria, 3 - occupied Crimea.

It was these soldiers that attacked the Ukrainian military in the Ilovaysk district in 2014. Also, during the Battle of the Redea Troops, about 30 units of military and engineering equipment were lost. The invaders left a rare armored vehicle from the intelligence complex and air defense management with the secret module "Barnaul-T". Most of the equipment belonged to the 331 regiment. The loss of the 155th brigade during the Battle of the Moshchun was at least 30 people.

In particular, the captain of the company Andrei Ivanov was liquidated, who was assigned the title of "Hero of Russia" posthumously. In total, 5 soldiers received the highest rank in the Russian Federation for the defeat of the Battle, three of which are posthumously. The publication notes that the high loss of the most capable units forced the Russian Federation to flee from the north of Ukraine, it was not a planned "regrouping".
