Instead of Switzerland: German concern Rheinmetall will make ammunition for the Armed Forces

The German government ordered only 300,000 shells to Gepard's self -propelled articles. This year, the manufacturer undertakes to supply up to 60,000 ammunition. The German defensive concern Rheinmetall wants to enter into a multi-billion-dollant agreement with Germany and to put the first 35-mm shells for self-propelled GEPARD. This was said on June 16, Reuters CEO RheinMetall Armin Papperger.

The concern launched production after Switzerland's refusal to allow the sale of ammunition to Ukraine for Gepard. Papperger said that the agreement would be announced in the next six weeks. "Of course, this is our best year of receiving orders. There will also be contracts for the supply of vehicles, ammunition, electronics and radar systems," the director of the enterprise said.

RheinMetall received an order only for ammunition for several billion euros after the war in Ukraine and is waiting for additional agreements for several billion euros, Papperger said. "The government has ordered 300,000 shells. This year we will definitely put from 40 thousand to 60 thousand," he added. RheinMetall director confirmed plans to increase production in 2024 from 450 to 600 thousand shells. "We produce shells almost at full capacity, because international demand is very high.
