Vodka with caviar: Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the United States staged a banquet before the anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine
More than one hundred diplomats from different countries at the invitation of Russia's ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov gathered in the Grand Ballroom of the embassy, decorated with six chandeliers and satin drapes of peach color from floor to ceiling. The guests drank vodka and wine, and they had baked cakes with caviar, salted cucumbers and eggplant rolls with a gross, which the waiters served on silver plates.
Before entering the hall posted photos and "evidence of crimes of Ukrainian Nazis in the Donbass", allegedly witnessed among civilians. During the feast, Ambassador Anatoly Antonov said toast, in which he complained about the violation of the principles of international relations defined by the UN Charter. In his speech, he stated that Russia would solve problems peacefully, and at the end suggested drinking for the Russian army.
After the performance of his speech in the hall played the anthem of the Russian Federation. According to Foreign Policy, many invited attaches were other embassies, mainly from South and East Asia and Africa. On the same day, 39 countries either abstained or voted against the UN resolution that urge Russian troops to leave Ukraine, while 141 countries supported it.
Diplomats celebrated the Russian holiday when there was a protest in front of the building because of the anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The participants of the action wrapped in Ukrainian flags and chanted the "shame of Russia" at the gate, and each guest saw them, entering the territory of the embassy. On the eve, they wrote that on February 24, activists in Warsaw woke up Russian diplomats because of the anniversary of the invasion.
