Weapons will become "smart" and autonomous: that invented the military in the field of the

In the US Defense Ministry, they want to establish "trust relations" between the AI and the military. In connection with the global use of neurotrans and widespread developments in this field, including in the military sector, the Pentagon has released an updated instruction on the implementation and control of artificial intelligence in the US Army, Task & Purpose writes.

The political directive on autonomous weapons systems appeared in 2012, but since that moment there were global shifts in the development of AI, so the document had to be refined, the US Defense Ministry noted. One of the aspects that special attention is paid to is the ethical use of artificial intelligence and careful additional inspections of new systems. The document focuses on strengthening the trust between decisions and AI systems.

Updating the directive also orders the creation of a working group from autonomous weapons systems. According to the representatives of the Pentagon, such a group will advise the senior heads of the US Department of Defense when they will consider the possibility of introducing new AI systems in the troops. The creation of this working group should facilitate the safe and responsible use of autonomous weapons systems.

Military officials say that plans for the creation of working groups and rigid control for the implementation of the AI in the troops do not indicate any restrictions in this area, but is designed to implement artificial intelligence in the army more widely and responsibly. Experts say that the US Defense Ministry is now actively investing in AI, especially after China has stated that he was going to become leaders in the field of "smart weapons" by 2030.
