Instructed the Prime Minister: Zelensky responded to a petition about renaming Russia to Muscovy

In response to the petition, Zelensky stated that the question requires careful elaboration as in the plane of historical and cultural context and international legal consequences. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky responded to a petition for renaming the Russian Federation to Muscovy. This is stated on the President's website. So, according to Zelensky, he instructed Prime Minister Denis Shmigal to work out this issue with the involvement of scientific institutions.

He also stated that the President asked him and the author of the petition. "Thus, the question posed in the petition requires careful processing both in the plane of the historical and cultural context and given the possible international legal consequences," the petition said.

The President also noted that the names of geographical objects used in Ukraine, in particular other countries of the world, are subject to accounting and registration by a specially authorized executive body for geographical names. It should be noted that the author of the petition Shabolostov Valery Alexandrovna stated that Russia exists only 301, and its historical name is Muscovy. "301 years old, Ukrainians suffer from the lies of the Russian version of our historical past.

Calling Russia, we legalize its lies and confirm that they agree with its version of history," the petition reads. We will remind that earlier deputies of Lviv and Rivne asked Zelensky to rename the Russian Federation to Muscovy. According to officials, the name "Russia" was named as a result of falsification of history. Also, Russian President Vladimir Putin himself has argued with the film director, talking about "Muscovy".
