Lukashenko went to SI to prevent Russia from completely absorbing Belarus - isw

According to analysts, the Belarusian politician tries to increase Beijing's influence in Minsk and to insure against the possible establishment of full economic control over his country by Russia. Self -win President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko went to the head of the PRC, Xi Jinping to enlist Beijing's support against the backdrop of Russian attempts to absorb his country. This was reported in the construction of the Institute of War Study (ISW) on March 1.

The Institute believes that Lukashenko, probably, intends to maintain his efforts to develop the influence of China in Belarus to insure against Russia's attempts to ensure full economic control over Belarus. Lukashenko earlier expressed support for the expansion of the economic presence of China in Belarus in February 2021. Even then, he intensified his efforts to defer the absorption of Belarus by Russia through the Union State.

Analysts say that Lukashenko and SI have signed a package of 16 documents that can help circumvent sanctions against Russia by directing Chinese assistance to the Russian Federation through Belarus. Lukashenko stated that he was interested in deepening cooperation with China in the field of technology, enterprise development, modernization of enterprises of Belarus and trade. ISW notes that China can secretly transfer military equipment or dual -use goods to Russia through Belarus.

We will remind, on March 1 Lukashenko stated that Belarus fully supports the "peace plan", which was presented in China and told about the task of the country in the confrontation of Russia and Ukraine. On February 25, the President of Belarus stated that the West was trying to quarrel Russia and Belarus, so it spreads information about the latter's absorption.

The report of the Institute of War Study of February 28 states that Lukashenko can participate in the creation of schemes for circumventing sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation in connection with military aggression against Ukraine, within the framework of his official visit to China. Recall that on February 21, Alexander Lukashenko announced his visit to Iran in mid -March 2023. Lukashenko stated that he was counting on the "higher level of cooperation" with Iran.
