The collapse of the Russian Federation is not far off: why do the local authorities of the regions create their own "armies"

Russian politicians understand that as soon as the war is lost, the collapse of the empire can begin. In the Russian regions, their own armed units are being actively created, and the initiative to provide local authorities to control these groups comes from Moscow.

About it writes a viewing journalist Denis Stadji in December, the news of Russia that throughout Russia, in each region, including annexed territories, they want to create centers of training of fighters such as a special forces university in Chechen Gudermes. This was supported by the Deputy Prime Minister, Presidential Representative in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev and the first deputy head of the Russian Presidential Administration Sergey Kiriyenko.

The centers should be created with the help of Danylo Martynov, one of the founders of the Russian University of special forces. Oligarchs Kovalchuk, who, according to a large number of experts, are the main ideologues of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Such centers are parallel to militarized structures that are controlled by local authorities.

Such a trend for strengthening regional law enforcement agencies can lead to the interests of individual political actors and the more unbalance of the country's crisis. However, this is only half the problem that Russia creates. The regions were allowed to create preparatory centers for military personnel, not their own armies. After all, the armies were allowed six months ago. At the end of spring, the first so -called "name" volunteer battalions began to appear in the Russian regions.

In July, this campaign launched more actively when each of the regions actually obliged to form and finance at least one battalion to participate in the war in Ukraine. By the end of 2022, about 60 regional battalions were created, which included volunteers and mobilized. The following formations are made up of 400-500 people. One of the reasons for this decision could be the transfer of responsibility to local authorities for the "unpopular steps" related to the conscription.

Moscow does not expect that one of these "National Batalions" will return home alive. However, they have something to fear. But a small number of veterans, which will still return to their native land with a shifted psyche, often with unaccounted weapons and without work, can be published by the same "regional armies" not controlled by Moscow.

In the case of destabilization of the Kremlin regime, participants of such formations can take weapons in their hands and seize power under the auspices of the local elite or independently. The situation was also in the Soviet Union. Even an absolutely imperial thinking colonel Victor Alksnis tells about it. "I watched the collapse of the Soviet Union and the Soviet Army in my bitter experience.

By analogy, I can say that these battalions are a backbone of future national armies that will unfold in Russia. There were people who have combat experience who participated in the fighting. They will return home and, God forbid, they will be involved, they will be offered good positions, "the colonel explained. However, in Moscow risks are not too concerned. Russia's Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin instructed 16 military training centers in the country.

Moreover, their location is strangely coincided with the division of the country into new states, which was recently drawn by the head of Ukrainian intelligence Kirill Budanov. Therefore, the question of why such an initiative goes from the Kremlin himself against the interests of Putin remains open. One can only assume that the Kremlin elites have already realized that the loss in the war in Ukraine and the further collapse of the Russian Federation are inevitable.
