IAEA officially demanded from the Russian Federation to leave the Zaporozhye NPP: a resolution approved
The resolution on behalf of Ukraine was proposed by the participants of the IAEA - Canada and Poland. The text of the document states that the Board of the Organization "requires" immediately termination of all actions against both Zaporizhzhya NPP and any other nuclear facilities in Ukraine. " The initiative was supported by 26 votes. Two members of the Council - Russia and China, were opposed to seven - Egypt, South Africa, Senegal, Burundi, Vietnam, India and Pakistan.
The IAEA Council in the document expressed their condolences in connection with the "continuous violent actions of the Russian Federation on nuclear objects in Ukraine, in particular in connection with the presence of Russian forces and staff of" Rossa "at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant.
" The resolution emphasizes that the occupation of the station by Russian troops greatly increases the risk of nuclear catastrophe, while the Ukrainian NPP staff continues to operate the facility under conditions that the agency described as threatening to the security of the station.
"Russia considers the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine as a military trophy, seeking to deprive Ukraine of control over its own energy resources and use the station as a military base for action against Ukraine," the resolution reads. Representatives of the Russian Federation in the IAEA called the document "anti -Russian" and put responsibility for the shelling of the Zaporozhye NPP on the Ukrainian side.
We will remind, recently the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexey Danilov stated that a recent visit of the MAIe mission to the Zaporozhye NPP did not improve the situation with security at a nuclear facility. The results of the visit were also criticized at the Presidential Office.
The adviser to the head of the OP Mikhail Podolyak expressed surprise how in a short interval conducted by the agency experts at the facility, managed to check the reactor's work and evaluate the security at the NPP. For their part, Ukrainian workers called the IAEA arrival at the Circus station. The report of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on the results of a mission trip to the NPP in Energodar refers to the regulator's concern about the situation at the station.
