The document states that within the budget process for 2022, Berlin increased funds for the modernization initiative to 2 billion euros for 2022. Additional funds will be used primarily to support Ukraine. "At the same time, they will be used to finance the increase in the compulsory contributions of Germany to the European Peace Fund (EPF), from which, for their part, they can reimburse the costs of EU Member States for support services of Ukraine," the statement reads.
