Helped the dictator: South Africa supplied ammunition and weapons Russia - US Ambassador

Washington seriously perceived the detection of weapons supplies from the African country for Moscow and considers it a problem. President of South Africa, in turn, declared the study of this issue. The South African Republic supplied ammunition to the Russian Federation by a ship, which in December 2022 was rolled up to Simonstan's naval base in Cape Town. This was stated by US ambassador to Ruben Brigetti, News24 reports.

"The United States is convinced that South Africa, despite the fact that it declares its neutral position on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, supplied weapons of the army of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin," the statement reads. According to a statement by the US State Department, a cargo ship stood in Cape Town on the Naval Base in Cape Town from 6 to 8 December 2022. The US believes that this ship was used to load weapons and ammunition, which were then sent to Russia.

Brigetti stressed that the US government has seriously accepted the discovery of weapons from South Africa to Russia and considers this problem serious. He also told reporters that there was no doubt about the accuracy of US intelligence data on the supply of ammunition, claiming that he was ready to put his life on that. The Lady R ship entered the naval base in December. Brigetti then said he officially wrote the Defense Minister Tandy Modis.

According to Brigetti, the United States has expressed concerns about the participation of couples in military exercises with Russia and China, which were planned for the anniversary of invasion of Ukraine. He reported that these fears were expressed by American officials before the delegations of South Africa. In turn, President Siril Ramafos commented on the situation, reports The Guardian. "This issue is being studied, and then we will be able to talk about it," the head of state said.

We will remind that the news agencies of Russia were quoted on April 25 by the words of President of Syril Ramafos, who declared his country from the International Criminal Court (ICS). Subsequently, the authorities of the African state stated that the statement on the exit from the ISS was a "mistake". The President allegedly mistakenly voiced the status of South Africa in the International Criminal Court.
