"On the guard of a peaceful atom." Half a year of Zaporizhzhya NPP experts do their work "In the paws of the invaders" - an interview with the station worker
On August 25, Russian invaders provoked the first in the history of the NPP temporary disconnection from the power grid. Only on September 1, a video of the IAEA delegation of 14 experts was a few hours at the Zaporozhye NPP. There are several representatives of the mission at the station. But the CEO IAEA has already stated that the integrity of the Zaporozhye NPP has been repeatedly violated.
What happened at the station captured by the occupiers, in an interview with Radio NV, was anonymous by the Zaporizhzhya NPP employee when he left for Ukraine -controlled territory. - Do you know how the working conditions for the ZPP have changed after the MAIA mission visited there? - On the day when the mission arrived, in the morning a strong shelling of the city, the territory of the station. When the mission arrived, there was a full lull.
The mission left and in the evening people listened to explosions in the city and around. That is, shelling [continue]. - Did they fired the city or the NPP? - They will be in the outskirts, on the territory of the city. The shelling goes. - Are there any threatening workers who have visited the cellars, the opportunity to contact the IAEA mission and tell about it? Is it too dangerous? - Both the city and the staff of the station are in fact.
People who have fallen into the cellars are morally and psychologically broken. It was very difficult for them. I cannot even imagine the condition in which the workers are after being in the paws of the invaders. - What do they fall on the basements? What do the occupiers require from employees? What are they forced? - not only employees of Zaporizhzhya NPP, but also [residents] of the whole city can get to the basement.
That is, someone showed a person, said that he has an active pro -Ukrainian position, expresses, and the person is taken away. During the searches, for example, the phone finds some telegrams, which show the real picture that we have on the fronts, in the city. All. For them, it is an indicator that a person is against them. It is caused, taken away and a person disappears for a week. After that, they are released, but the person is in such a psychological and moral state that it is . . . it is very bad.
- You have previously told reporters that there are about 10% of collaborators at the station. - Yes, it's about the city. The occupiers themselves in the beginning spoke in an interview with Russian propaganda media, which at the beginning of hostilities and occupation of the city, in the city were 10 to 90. That is, it is a real reflection of the moods of the city, employees. Do not think. that something could have changed.
Everyone has relatives who live in cities that were fired in the first hours of a full -scale invasion, all have children, that is, all people know the real picture. The city was very united around the same defense of the city. - Speaking of employees of the ZPP. These are people who have lived and worked in Ukraine for 30 years, they are professionals, people with higher education.
What is the rhetoric of collaborators among them? Why do they want to Russia? - Among the employees - specialists, licensed staff - people with higher education, who can see the real picture and imagine it. I am more than sure that our employees, specialists do not want to see Russia. And if there are accidental collaborators, then there are washed brains. Just people live in some "scoop" (Soviet Union - Ed. ), Want to see this "scoop".
- Have you encountered Russian invaders when you were at the NPP? - employees of Zaporizhzhya NPPs face the occupiers actually immediately as they arrive in the station. The Russian military is conducted on the passage inspection. While they reach the workplace, [employees] can see APCs, equipment, military who go with weapons around the station.
-Do phones check for whether a person is signed for any Ukrainian telegram channels? - From the first month of the occupation of the energy, it was forbidden to carry mobile phones, smartphones, equipment with cameras in the station. Because in the first days people constantly shoot where they are, what [do]. [The Russians] realized that it was evidence that they were present at the station with military equipment, so they were forbidden to wear it.
- We see that they were not very ashamed of their military equipment when there was a mission of IAEA. The CEO of Maga Raphael Grossi passed this technique. How do you explain it? - the technique [is placed] in the machine hall of one of the units, which the missionaries passed. The video was where this technique is standing. We see an excerpt when it runs near the main oil, which contains 128 tons of oil and stands nearby. He did not look what was lying in it - a ammunition, something else.
The stored in this Urals has not been recorded. - Grossi said two employees would stay at the station. What does it say to you? The station will start working in normal mode and there will be normal conditions for employees to continue to fulfill their duties? -First, Grossi in his first interview after leaving the station, said that IAEA workers remain there. But whether they will be closed or something else [they do the occupiers] will be a signal for the IAEA.
And after the stay of several persons from the IAEA mission, it can in no way be morally and psychologically assist the staff of the station. They will also pass through the military. They live and see what is being created - shelling of Nikopol, Manganese, Energodar himself. It can help that Russian troops will be completely withdrawn from the city and district. Then the staff will work quietly - both psychological and moral condition will rise.
- There is also a number of employees at night shift? - change about 1000 people. - It's a lot. - So. The station employs 11 thousand - five changes and other staff, who is engaged in their business in the afternoon. - Where exactly the Russians store ammunition and equipment in the territory of the ZPP? - In the Mashzals of the unit - everyone saw this video, then the IAEA went between the cars. Each time the passage passes the workers, they see APC, Urals. The territory is very large.
And where are they? Between the blocks put their technique, people saw. - Zaporizhzhya NPP was captured on March 4. How did the invaders communicate with the workers in the early days? What did they say? - At first, the rhetoric was not so aggressive that Russia is here. At first, they "unlocked" something else. But employees showed their attitude [profanity] vocabulary. Then, when the collaborators began to punish people for it, everything changed: people are silently passing.
When "Russia! Russia! ”, Workers began to say that they would only work for Ukraine. But there are some collaborators who "knock". - You may have heard that one of the plans of Russian invaders is to switch the ZPP to Crimea. Do you think it is technologically possible? Does Crimea need this additional electricity? -In my personal opinion, six power units of the nuclear power plant are very, very too much for the same Crimea. But yes, they can disconnect the power system of Ukraine.
There will be repeated situation where the station is "on zero" (reactors are turned off - ed. ). During this time, they should make some switching. But: the line goes 750 kV, and in the Crimea is 330 square meters. This is very little for six blocks. We have four power lines of 750 kV, and to the Crimea 330 square meters. There is no logic in the actions of the invaders.
Why pay the station, six power units that need to be repaired, [make] staff pay, some investment, but one and a half blocks on this line will work. Staff still need to be taught, he should be licensed. How will the Ima be treated that the nuclear power plant of Ukraine will simply work illegally for Russia? Yes, I think they can do something. But I hope that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will do everything so that this does not happen.
- When you realized that you can no longer stay there, you need to leave? - After the capture of the Zaporozhye NPP, it became clear that it would be dangerous. But the hope was that the country would not leave the NPP and in the near future will be the liberation of both the station, the energy and the entire territory of Ukraine. When there were already people with whom you were familiar with whom you worked, it became clear that it was no longer possible to stay there.
